I chose this hotel because it was cheap, near the beach, and provided free breakfast. Travelodge SPI delivered on all three. As a bonus, the staff members were polite and helpful. However, we will not be returning for three reasons. First, the guests of this hotel seem to find it acceptable to hang out talking and drinking outside their rooms late at night with no regard for the other guests. When I finally complained to management on the second night, they handled the situation to their credit, but such intervention shouldn't be necessary. Second, although the rooms look nice on the surface after the remodel, the overall room quality is lower. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable, especially the pull-out sofa. Our bed creaked like the sinking Titanic when either of us moved. Management doesn't seem to think hand towels are necessary. The construction is cheap, with sloppy paint and exposed pipe in the tub. 3) Yes, breakfast is included, but your choice are limited almost exclusively to highly processed sugar and starch - waffles, donuts, plain bagels, Froot Loops, and the like. The only healthy options I could find were apples and Raisin Bran. Also, unlike every other hotel I've ever visited, the breakfast manager (who is admittedly very nice) doesn't trust adults to make their own waffles, so he jumps on you if you dare to attempt such a bold move. Next time I'll spend a little more money and stay somewhere nicer.
