“Although I had read other reviews of this particular...”

Although I had read other reviews of this particular Travelodge, I decided to try it due to some comments regarding remodeling. Unfortunately, it is very hard for me to find much good about my experience at this hotel and I will most definitely not stay there again. Even though the coffee and wash basin areas had updated counter tops, the carpet looked worn and had 3 very suspicious red stains on them - one the size of a grapefruit. The bathroom door swung open to the sleeping area which was very odd to say the least. The bathtub/shower was disgusting! The grout lines and fixtures area all had black mold...no more showers for me! The bedroom area was also odd, only one nightstand with a lamp - toss a coin for readers! Another extremely frustrating issue was the fact that, we were given a 2nd floor room, yet no one thought to tell us how to access it. My partner and I actually drove around the building looking for some sign saying 'stairs'...we finally found a SMALL sign at the back of the building. IF you go to this hotel do NOT use these stairs! It is BEYOND creepy, huge lint balls cover the stairs and it's FILTHY! We encountered the same problem in trying to find the ice - only one machine was working - on the 3rd floor, but again, no signs. Our experience with the customer service also left a lot to be desired. From the get-go we had difficulty understanding the person at the front desk - his accent was so strong that the words were unintelligible. Also, why can't the people at the front desk wear uniforms or at least the same colors? It looked so unprofessional. In the morning I went down for some breakfast but missed it by 2 minutes! Everything, except coffee, had been put away! In addition, the front desk people were about as friendly as rocks...no 'good morning', nothing. Someone said to me that this is what you get when the cost is cheap. I beg to differ. I seriously doubt that the quality of any hotel experience is determined by how much you pay. The entire experience gave me such an 'ick' feeling that I will not return nor recommend this place...ever.
