“Trip to Medford”

I chose this hotel because I had stayed here once back in 2007, and it was ok then - nothing special, but ok for the price. Maybe I just didn't know about the crime rate before, but it is super high in this area. I did not feel safe. I was traveling alone and did not feel safe going in and out, especially at night. There was only one night where I got back after dark, and I got into my room as fast as I could. Also the door to my room was broken, so I had to give it an extra shove to get it to latch. It seemed pretty flimsy which did not help with my insecurity that I was already feeling. I was on the ground floor and my window faced the back parking lot. On the weekdays that I was there, it was pretty deserted back there. I may have been the only guest! I noticed that my screen on the window had been cut and it looked like at some point somebody had tried to come in the window. The carpet and furniture is all outdated with lots of stains. I am thinking that because of the crime rate and location they may just not want to sink alot of money into it. On the bright side, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, as I remembered them being the first time that I stayed. The room and bathroom had been cleaned thoroughly, and the sheets were clean. It is right across from a great dog park, and there were alot of guests on the weekend with dogs. I would have felt safe, and been happier if I had my dog with me!All in all, if I a big guy traveling alone, or if as I said, I had my dog with me, this would be an ok place if you are looking for a cheap hotel with a clean bed and friendly staff.
