“It'll Do”

When traveling at peak leaf-peaping season, I felt grateful to find a hotel which had space available. However, my first impression at check-in was less than welcoming. The person at the desk gave me a great deal of flak about using a different credit card from the one I used when I made the reservation. I explained that I use a specific credit card only for internet transactions and I don't use it for anything else. I did not bring it with me when I left home. He said it was a 'problem' to use a different one. No other hotel has ever mentioned this to me at check-in, much less ever stated that it was a 'problem.' He asked me several times to present the original credit card, and I told him several times that I did not have that one with me. So my first impression of this hotel was quite negative, and there was little to redeem it after that. One way to guarantee fresh air when you enter a room is to find the windows open. It was freezing outside. The first thing I did in my room (and my aunt also did the same in hers) was to close the window. The heater was quite functional, but loud. I could not hear the TV when the heater was running. The rooms were okay--and as I mentioned before, I was grateful to be able to get a room. The bathrooms need to be renovated. But the bed was comfortable.
