“Excellent location, lackluster hotel”

  , Omaha
This hotel sits on an awesome location to see the Chicago sites. You just a few minutes walk to the CTA and several of the Chicago sights. The hotel itself, leaves a bit to be desired for over $100 a night. The rooms are small and sparse, which I expected from a Travelodge, but Room 901 is right outside the elevator and there is no sound dampening and the door has about a half inch to inch gap under it. Our window faced the CTA redline, which would have been fine but again, thin old windows with a window unit shoved in it (and a towel shoved in the gap for insulation) means the sound comes right in. The bed is far from stellar as far as comfort goes but it definitely good enough to sleep on, no sags or springs in your back. Our king size bed came equipped with three of the smallest pillows I have ever seen on a bed. They were slightly larger than an airline pillow and even the maids seemed unsure how to put them on the bed as they are too small to cover the head board, so they changed how they sat every day. The elevator is slow, and being on the 9th floor it takes forever for it to go up and then come down. My husband walked, not ran, up 9 flights of stairs before I was able to get off the elevator. The hotel also keeps the heat way too high, we ended up turning on our window AC unit since your unable to regulate the heat in your room. We assumed they kept the heat high so you didn't request more of the thin blankets. However the room was always clean, though one day not until after 5:00pm, with fresh paint and toiletries refreshed. Would I say here again, yeah, the location makes up for a lot but in all honesty I think I would book a private room in the Hostel just down street next time to see if that is any better. The price is a little bit cheaper for the Hostel but I expect the quality to be about the same.
