“Great Downtown Bargain!”

  , Bloomington
The Travelodge in Downtown Chicago is not fancy, but it is clean and the staff is really nice and it's in a great location. The prices of the rooms are usually the lowest/among the lowest of any of the downtown hotels, so that plus the location makes it a great bargain for people who are comin to Chicago to do things in Chicago (as opposed to staying in the hotel room the whole time). The rooms are very basic--for example, there's a coffee maker but no hair dryer, although the front desk will bring a hair dryer up to your room if you ask. We have consistently gotten really good room rates at this hotel, compared to other hotels in Chicago. The location is just about perfect--it's about a block from three different L stops, about a block from a bus hub, and right in between State and Michigan so there's a ton of shopping close by. The restauarant on the first floor of the hotel isn't fancy, but the food is good and the staff there is really nice too. I really only have two complaints about the hotel--the beds are not comfortable to me (my husband says they are just fine, so that's probably a matter of preference), and the windows do not open (it was really nice while we were there and it would have been great to open up the windows, but that's not the end of the world.) That being said, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
