“I've Stayed At Better 1 Stars in Mexico”

  , Coquitlam
I always do a quick check of room cleanliness before unpacking. I've learned this from the TV show "Hotel Impossible". First room 137 had hairs in the bed, lots of dust on the headboard(hardly ever cleaned), purple stuff (cleaner residue?) on the shower tiles, and the hot water heat was on so high, it was almost like a sauna. There was no thermostat, or valve to turn off the heat. I called front desk and was advised to run the AC unit. Based on those FAILS, I wanted another room. I went to front desk and told the clerk about these problems and she came to see for herself. I pointed out the deficiencies and moved across the hall to another room. Within a minute of closing the door, the large air conditioner heat exchanger outside my window fired up. I thought there was an airplane out there. Back to the front desk for another room. I explained this situation and said I want another room. We went to another room 101. It had a funny smell to it like "fast food kitchen", but I wasn't interested in playing "room roulette" again so I pulled the sheets back and said it was ok. I opened the windows to let in some fresh air. I went into the bathroom to wash my face, and the water coming out of the sink was a mere trickle. I took off the aerator to see if there was something blocking it. There looked to be dried toothpaste inside it. I cleaned it out and the water flowed freely. Not my job to be fixing things. There was plenty of green residue in the sink after running it a few minutes, both hot & cold. I went to the bathtub to see what that situation was like. It took about 7-8 minutes for hot water to make its way to this tap. There was tons of green & black scaly residue that came out of the tap. The bathtub would fill to 50% as its draining capacity was terrible. I had a shower at about 8pm after hoping all the residue had passed and the water was actually hot. While having my shower the water would not drain, and I stood in 15-20cm of water. I left my room at about 9:30pm and there was still about 10cm of water in the tub. As it was New Years Eve, I requested an iron to press my clothes before heading out. There was a burned red patch on the important side, like someone left it on a wet red sock. Good thing I checked it! In the morning, had a shower, same problems. Checked out and informed manager of the problems and he became very aggressive and argumentative. This place I will never recommend. FAIL. No more room here for more story. :(
