“Shab Drab”

  , Calgary
I had booked a room by phone for myself and my daughter for a four night stay in Seattle. During my booking I made it clear that my daughter was in a wheelchair and needed elevator access and bathroom access. The individual who took our booking assured me that there would be no problem providing an adequate room.We arrive for our first night and was given a room where the bed blocked access to the bathroom, even an abled bodied person has to squeeze in sideways to enter the bathroom. We were offered another room with a king bed, we would have had to share the bed and it was right next to the elevator. Had no alternative but to stay in the room provided and take my daughter to a bathroom outside of the hotel.I booked out the next morning after spending a considerable amount of holiday time finding another hotel with proper access. The hotel itself is Shab Drab, some effort has been made to update the premises but it still feels very tired, the halls smell of chlorine from the small pool or from some smelly air fresher that is probably used to try to cover the smells that permeate the hallway. The room is a drab colour, the windows do not have blackout curtains, only sheer curtains that provide some privacy but do not block out any light from the street. The room a should only have a single bed, blocking a bathroom makes absolutely no sense,The bathroom is tiny, the shower tiny with a huge open closet space on the other side of it that holds an ironing table and iron, what a wasted space, better use of that space would be to enlarge the bathroom and its doorway, The carpets were drab and did not look clean, The beds were covered in white linens, an effort has been made to provide some sort of comfort in the bed.Did not try the breakfast, the room is small, too many people for such a small breakfast area.I would only recommend this hotel to those who are on a very tight budget. The location is a reasonable one for access to many of the sites, some great restaurants within walking distance as well.
